Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation defined is specific exercise and activity designed to restore and maintain function.  In most of the musculoskeletal complaints I see, there is usually an underlying imbalance in the musculature that allowed the joint or tissues to be injured in the first place.  Many people will focus on “loosening” tight muscles. Unfortunately, if there is a tight muscle, there is usually a weak one that needs to be strengthened. Finding that weakness is the key to avoiding recurring problems.  Whether your complaint is a low back disc or a rotator cuff tear, specific exercises are vital in achieving wellness.  I have found that the more difficult I make the exercises, the less compliant patients are. The most common statement I hear is “I dont have time.”  Every exercise I prescribe can usually be done with an exercise band, ball or simple hand weights.  My job is to give you the tools necessary for YOU to get better.

Whether it is advanced exercise such as McKenzie,  Pilates type core training,  or simple over the door rubber band shoulder exercise, an individual exercise program is given to each and every patient to assist in your recovery and better health.
